Raenu Barod
Raenu Barod is a partner in Barger & Wolen LLP’s London and New York office. She practices in the area of commercial litigation and arbitration, with a focus on reinsurance and insurance matters. Ms. Barod has experience in both state and federal litigation and arbitration proceedings. She also has participated in various insurance transactional and regulatory matters.
Ms. Barod has worked on a broad range of matters for various domestic and foreign cedents and reinsurers, including surety reinsurance issues arising from the collapse of Enron Corporation and issues relating to the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, letters of credit, pre-answer security, and scope of coverage.
Ms. Barod also helped devise and execute a litigation strategy on behalf of an insurance company client involved in an industry face-off against the factoring industry over the assignment of structured settlements in the secondary market. That strategy resulted in the creation of a New York legal precedent in the client’s favor.
Ms. Barod is admitted to practice before state and federal courts in the State of New York, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1993.
