Barger & Wolen partners John S. Pierce, Robert G. Levy, Larry M. Golub, Dawn N. Valentine and Travis Wall, along with associate Donielle Colich, have co-authored a book published by Aspen Publishing, updated in 2008, entitled Defending the Insured. The book is a practical guide for insurers and defense counsel concerning issues that arise nationwide in providing a defense to insureds pursuant to liability policies. Topics covered include the nature of rights and duties in the tripartite defense relationship, the use of independent counsel and allocation issues between the insurer and the insured.
